Tom Ford was born in 1961 in Austin. He spent his adolescence in Santa Fe before attending classes of art in New York history. In Manhattan, Ford uses his free time to shoot commercials and regularly find him at Studio 54 and Andy Warhol’s Factory. He eventually join the Parsons School of Design in New York and then went to study architecture in Paris. It was only when his studies ended that Ford realizes his vocation.
In 1986, back in New York, he joined the studio of creation Cathy Hardwick, before work two years later at Perry Ellis as creative director. In 1990, Ford became a stylist for women at Gucci.
